Injection, orange oil and heat
Termite treatment without tenting
Not every drywood problem needs a tent. When colonies are localized and reachable, injection, orange oil or localized heat treat them while you stay home, for a fraction of the cost.

Termite treatment without tenting in Los Angeles works when the drywood infestation is localized and reachable: drill-and-inject termiticides, orange oil, localized heat and borate wood treatment. You usually stay home and avoid the cost of fumigation. When colonies are scattered through the structure, tenting is still the only method that reaches them all, and the inspection tells you which case you have. Call (323) 329-3792.
The options
Four ways to treat without a tent
Drill and inject
Termiticide injected directly into mapped galleries in eaves, trim, frames and accessible framing.
Orange oil
Low-toxicity d-limonene injected into galleries, killing termites on contact.
Localized heat
A section of the structure heated until the wood core is lethal to termites, monitored by sensors.
Borate wood treatment
Exposed raw wood treated so it resists future attack, often paired with the methods above.
When it is the right call
Localized versus widespread
Every non-fumigation method shares one limit: it treats the wood it reaches. That makes the inspection the whole decision. Drywood colonies live sealed inside the wood, and their only outside signs are the six-sided pellets they push out of kick-out holes. If pellets show up in one or two places, an eave run, a window frame, a section of attic, and the galleries can be mapped and reached, localized treatment is usually the smart, cheaper choice, typically $300 to $800 for spot work in the LA market.
If evidence turns up in several unrelated parts of the house, or galleries run into finished walls and inaccessible framing, localized treatment would only ever fix the colonies you can see. That is when whole-structure fumigation earns its higher price, and you will be told so with the evidence in front of you, not just a recommendation.

The visit
How non-fumigation treatment runs
Inspect and map
Pellets, kick-out holes and galleries located and photographed throughout the structure.
Choose the method
Injection, orange oil, heat or a combination matched to where the colonies are.
Treat
Galleries injected or the section heated to a monitored lethal core temperature.
Protect raw wood
Borate treatment on exposed wood while access is open.
Verify
Pellet sites cleared and checked; fresh pellets mean we come back.
Local pressure
Why LA asks about this so often
Coastal Southern California has the highest drywood termite prevalence in the continental US, and tented fumigation means two to three days out of the house, bagging food and, in some LA County cities, a permit. It is no surprise that "termite treatment without tenting" is one of the most common questions here. For homes where infestation is caught early, often through an annual termite inspection, localized treatment is genuinely the better answer. The earlier evidence is found, the more likely it stays a no-tent job.

Common questions
Asked before booking this service
Yes, when the infestation is localized and accessible. Drill-and-inject treatment, orange oil, localized heat and borate wood treatment all work on colonies that can be found and reached. What they cannot do is guarantee every hidden colony in the structure, which is the one thing tenting does.
A section of the structure, such as an attic area, a room or a wall run, is enclosed and heated until the wood core reaches a lethal temperature for termites, then held there while sensors confirm it. No gas is used and you usually do not need to move out.
A termiticide made from d-limonene extracted from orange peels. It is injected into drywood galleries and kills termites on contact. It is a popular low-toxicity option for localized infestations but, like any injection, it only reaches the galleries it is put into.
Often, yes. California termite reports frequently list a whole-structure option and a localized option side by side, and which one satisfies a sale depends on the findings and the contract. Ask before choosing if you are in escrow.
No. Subterranean colonies live in the soil, so they need a soil barrier or bait system, not wood treatment. Many LA homes need both kinds of protection.
